As you may have see on the Stash yesterday, I revisted the ol’ “how many unique Twitter followers” question I tackled last year.
This time around, however, I did things a little bit differently. Instead of just looking at user ID’s, I also looked at their location. Using a few rules and logic to extract the details I needed, I was able to identify the home state or province of nearly 550,000 resort Twitter followers.
So, when you group followers by their location, which resort is most popular in each state? Take a look (click for a larger version and for the state-by-state details below the image):
Remember, this also includes Canadian resorts which is why Whistler/Blackcomb shows up on Canada.
A Little Deeper
As I pulled these numbers I started with New England and worked my way through the industry. What was interesting was how the map looked when I limited it to just New England resorts.
So, I did the same thing limiting the analysis only to resorts within specific regions of the North America.
Turned out to be a pretty interesting little exercise.
What about Canadian provinces? That’s coming Friday.
