A while back I shared a simple video series Liberty University Snowflex had created that simply and easily accomplished three goals:

  1. First, it was an engaging, but triumphant, story about learning to ski
  2. Second, it was a testimonial of the power of ski school
  3. Third, it created a couple dozen new skiers / snowboarders for life

The project was called “Trails to Rails”, a system that taught total newbies how to snowboard with the end goal being a rail jam and the end of the program.

After a great, successful first round, they recent came back for another go with an extra focus on telling the story.

I said it before and I’ll say it again, I really like this concept. I recently expressed concerns about the high-level of ski porn used to attract to new riders. To use my words from that post, “Trails to Rails” tackles part of that concern by making beginner skiing sexy.

Many skiers and boarders are self taught, yet these videos show the clear benefits of taking lessons.

With all the video content resorts produce, I think this is an incredibly smart way to allocate those resources and an extremely effective story to tell. Once again, well done Liberty Snowflex.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
