POWDR Launches the License to Ride Pass, a Sign of Things to Come?

POWDR has a pretty solid line-up of resorts: Park City, Boreal, Killington, and Copper are just a few. So with more multi-resort passes on the table, I had wondered why POWDR hadn’t joined the club.

Well, they did. It’s called the License 2 Ride and, new for this year, it’s only available for youth.

The Gist
Here’s how it works. You buy your youth or teen pass at your home mountain and get free riding at any of the 6 participating resorts (Boreal, Killington, Park City, Copper, Las Vegas, and Mt Bachelor) plus a $200 discount on a week at Woodward.

I’ll let Tom tell you the rest:

Prices
So, the youth/teen prices at each of the mountains go like this:

  • Killington: $499
  • Bachelor: $299
  • Las Vegas: $149
  • Boreal: $199
  • Copper: $299
  • Park City: $135

Because POWDR does “not share data of customers for privacy reasons”, the rules state you’ll be using your pass to snag an unlimited number of free tickets (one per day) at one of those resorts. But, and here’s where it’s a little tricky, you “must purchase your season pass to the mountain where you ride 80% of the time.”

Not sure how that will be controlled or verified (if no customer data is shared), and I’d be interested to see if Killington ends up with a bunch of Park City passholders with 50 tickets laying around their bedroom after the season is over. Either way, I think the pass will be very attractive the up-and-coming freeskier crew.

The Future Looks Bright
POWDR has an awesome line-up of resorts. I’m pretty psyched about this collaboration between them and hope to see more evolve in the seasons to come. Throw in Woodward, a solid terrain park brand at each of the mountains, and you’ve got a setup that is very intriguing.

Look forward to seeing what comes next.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
