I’m going to go out on a limb and ask you to share (anonymously) something that might help us all see the overall picture of social media. The question I want to ask is simply this: What is the point of your resort’s social media efforts?

We’re all plugging away, posting, tweeting, sharing, liking, +1ing, and commenting, but I am curious about why we are doing it. Are we expecting a monetary return, is it just branding, are we keeping up with other mountains? If nothing else, this is a question anyone is an arena that changes as quickly as social should be asking themselves on a regular basis.

I will share results, of course, so by sharing your insights (not plans), you aren’t giving away your secrets but are contributing to a bigger picture that may just help everyone see where they stand in the ski resort, social media landscape:

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
