As you might remember, last month there were three top 10 lists for YouTube: total views, subscribers, and view per video. Three lists worked and was interesting but at the same time it didn’t. In the end, I decided to simplify the analysis and ranking to just total views. I made the change for a few reasons:

• To have a better chance at identifying trends, spikes, viral videos, etc.
• To simplify the gathering/organizing so I could focus on what the numbers meant.
• Total views really did seem like the most important, valuable number.

I’m excited to see the dynamics of this list as the 2011-2012 season begins, videos are made and shared of big, seasonal events, and what that does to total video views. With the right set of videos and solid promotion, a resort could easily jump from #25 to #5…or higher. My guess is that this ranking is going to identify the resorts that take video seriously.
