I completely love Bolton Valley’s new “Story Time with Ralph” series.

It’s probably no surprise how big of a fan of ski history I am.

There’s an old single chair in my backyard, a poster of Gregg Skis behind my desk, and a coffee table book of vintage ski posters on the shelf behind me as I type.

But on an individual level, the history of a ski area is a powerful thing no matter how nostalgic you are. It gives meaning to the mere existence of the mountain you love.

Story Time with Ralph
Over the winter Bolton Valley sat down with former president and current Chairman of the Board, Ralph DesLauriers, to let him tell those stories of days gone by.

Stories about how the discotech they setup in the base lodge:

How they got their road paved quicker with the help of whiskey:

Or how many kids they’ve taught to ski over the years:

It’s such simple, fun, personal content. Perfect content for the times we’re living in.

And the fact that once the idea was nailed down and decided on, that creating each video is a matter of sitting Ralph in a chair and letting him talk?

So simple. So smart.

Strong Ally
However long this series is, every simple tale shared by Ralph connects skiers in the present with the moments and people and challenges that happened along the way. When it comes to building a brand, that’s a pretty strong ally.

Great work, Bolton.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
