A $34B Pie, and Only One Ski Resort Wants a Slice?

Last year, Amazon recorded over $34 billion in revenues. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s a large sum of cash.

Now, go to Amazon and search for “lift tickets”. What results do you get?
Try, “ski vacation”.
Or, “ski passes”.

If your results are anything like mine, and I think they are, the first search included listings from only one ski resort: Canyons. The Utah Avalanche center was selling lift tickets but they didn’t show up until the second page of results.

Results for “ski vacation”? Nothing from ski resorts. Results for “ski passes”. Nothing.

So, there is a 34 billion dollar pie out there, and only one resort wants a slice?
Interesting.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
