Summer is here. Snow is not. In such a situation, resort marketers are using one tool over and over again to build the summer buzz and get bikers, hikers, and more up to their mountains. That tool is online video. Here are a few examples.

Vail: YouTube Pre-Roll Video
Video Views: 13,000+
This 30 second spot ran on the pre-roll of a video I was watching while I should have been working (thanks to Brian and the other guys at Vail for helping me feel less guilty). Featuring some really sharp looking shots of kayaking, trail running, biking, and other summer-ish things, this cut through my pre-roll aversion and showed me compelling images of the things I love to do.

Aspen/Snowmass: Teaser for New Trail
Video Views: 5,200+
The Valhalla trail has apparently been in the works for a while now and this video captures the story of how it came to be and what riders can expect from this latest addition to the summer lineup. Solid editing, angles, and sound made the 2:20 length fly by. Good stuff.

Whistler: Mtn Bike Season Teaser
Video Views: 20,000+
I’ve already share this one, but it’s a great example of Whistler focusing on a key summer activity with a professionally made video.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
