As the season ramps up, so does my collection of things I want to write about.

But not all of these things need a dozen paragraphs of analysis, some just need to be seen to be appreciated. So, today, that’s what I’m going to do.

Seven Springs Singing Scanners

What happens when Seven Springs scans your pass on your birthday? This. A simply way to surprise and delight guests on a day where they’re already going to be smiling.

White Pass Optimistic but Transparent Update

White Pass’s GM, Rikki Cooper, wanted to update the eager masses on the upcoming opening day. They had good snow and an upcoming storm looked promising, but rather than jump the gun they recognized the uncertainty in the weather deserved a fair approach. Rikki’s update (with her daughter in her arms, no less!) did this beautifully. It’s optimistic without being too starry eyed and realistic without being pessimistic.

Nordic Valley’s Highlighted Maps

Over the half-dozen years I’ve been a passholder, the first few weeks open at Nordic Valley have been pretty consistent. Open the beginner area by Crocket, then Apollo with Old Barn, all runs off Apollo soon after, then Nordic Express. With the team really trying to get more, better, bigger terrain open sooner, the early season this year has looked a little different.

In response, the team has done a great job of creating simple, annotated maps to help old-timers and newbies alike navigate what they’ve been able get open so far.

And bonus points to Nordic Valley for ramping up their email game the last couple years. They’re really done a great job of quickly getting emails out at the same time social posts go up with key news to make sure us folks who don’t follow social super closely are always on top of the latest updates.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
