It was close but Steve Krcmar, the Associate Creative Director at Mammoth, just let me know that after starting a semi-official race to 50k fans just yesterday, Mammoth edged out Whistler to claim the honors of being the first ski resort to hit that mark. As of this post the numbers are:
Mammoth’s promotion to push them to 50k was: “Wanna ski/ride with your friends on us? Simply encourage your friends to “like” our page and one Facebook Fan will win three two-day tickets once we hit 50,000 fans!”
Whistler/Blackcomb’s promotional push was: “Good News! We’ve got another chance for you guys to win a sweet prize!! Our goal is to reach 50,000 Facebook fans asap to celebrate the start of the season. Help us reach our goal by getting your friends to “like” us and one lucky Facebook Fan will win a 5 Day EDGE Card!”
About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010
with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider
Inntopia,
my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley,
and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
