Inspiration
New a video to help beginners? Don’t make one, just use PSIA’s.

I am a huge fan of things like pre-arrival emails that are sent just before a first-timer’s lesson to help them know how to navigate their first day on snow.

But doing so typically requires a bit of content creation. After all, you need something to link to from that email or website or lodge or whatever means you use to get those tips and tricks in front of your soon-to-be-trying-skiing beginners.

The Paradox

There is, however, a paradox within that.

Because the ski areas that are most likely to be the ones teaching folks to ski – smaller, local mountains – are also the ones that are less likely to have the budget and resources to make content like this.

Luckily, there is a solution. Because not only has PSIA-AASI made a bunch of great videos and written a bunch of great content about this very thing, they want people to use them. To take them, embed them, link to them, and lift all boats together.

Link, Don’t Make

So if you find yourself wishing you had some great content for your lesson-takers to watch, don’t not give them something just because you can’t afford it, just link to or embed the Snow Pros content instead. For example.

Never Evers
If you’re sending a pre-arrival email or can customize the booking confirmation when someone buys a lessons, link to the “Beginner’s Guide to Skiing” page.

Embed the YouTube Videos
IF you’d prefer to have them go to your website instead of somewhere else, just embed the videos into a blog post. Never embedded a video before? Taking my own advice for a moment, here’s a quick guide someone else made.

Teaching Your Kids
See a lot of parents (like me) around you magic carpet teaching their kids? Slap a QR in/around the line that tells parents to scan this code for tips and tricks on teaching their kids and have that QR code direct them to PSIA-AASI’s Teaching Your Kids page.

Good or Great

A lot of resorts have made their own content on this topic. Some of it is incredible, some of it is a little rough around the edges.

The stuff that PSIA-AASI is churning out is incredibly well done and their library is constantly expanding. The next time you find yourself wishing for some beginner-related content, give their library a search first.

And then don’t be afraid to let go of your desire to do it yourself and let someone else do the heavy lifting instead.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
