Timeline is coming, there’s no way around that. With the deadline of Timeline going live for all pages just a few weeks away, I thought I’d use what resorts are already doing to inspire some ideas of your own as marketers start to explore the possibilities of this extra, visual real estate (851 pixels by 315 pixels).

Keep in mind the rules that Facebook has outlined for Cover Photos. The following things are NOT allowed:

  1. Price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download it at our website”
  2. Contact information, such as web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page’s About section
  3. References to user interface elements, such as Like or Share, or any other Facebook site features
  4. Calls to action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends”

A couple of these have minor violations, and I have no idea how much Facebook is going to police this, but just be aware of the rules.

Technically, these last two violate rule #2 from above because they include contact information.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
