Content isn’t always about coming up with new stories, it seeing great stories (or great storytellers) and merging those ideas with your own message.
I’m not talking about the big waves of content trends (remember the Harlem Shake or Ice Bucket Challenge?) as much as I’m referring to marketers keeping their eyes open for opportunities or ideas that could further their own goals.
A lot of resorts are doing some good stuff right now, but here are three I noticed.
I think there are more of these out there, but the two that came across my radar most recently were these. You’ve probably seen this from other brands, but it’s hard not to smile when you see it from a resort’s perspective. Combined these two posts have 4,000 likes…and counting.
Alterra worked with artist Rudy Willingham to cover the Deer Valley world cup as only an artist of Rudy’s creative caliber could. It’s a ridiculously clever way to tell the story that was seen by Rudy’s half-million followers with nearly 5,000 hitting like.
I know I’ve seen at least one or two other resort’s do this, but something about this one made me smile extra big. It’s a perfect combination of a parody on the original plus a healthy dose of perfectly dry sarcasm and resort vibe. So good.
See any others out there? Let me know, I know I’m missing good stuff and would love to have more eyes out there helping me track down all the amazing campaigns that I haven’t seen yet.
About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010
with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider
Inntopia,
my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley,
and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
