I Think We’ve Hit a Very Critical Resort Marketing Point of the Summer
There’s a good chance I’m the worst t-shirt folder in the history of the universe. Which is a problem when you consider my daily wardrobe.
S0 there I was, in that all-too-familiar state of forced humility by my lack of ability to align cotton seams when, out of the warm, sunny, snowless blue, it hit me: we’d hit the point of all Summer points.
I’ll let the suspense build as I share three things with you that lead to this laundry triggered epiphany.
Piece #1
On Thursday, Loveland Ski Area posted this photo on Facebook of snow gracing the ridges above the ski area.

Last week, Aspen/Snowmass posted these three photos on Instagram…

…for a combined 4,547 likes (1,430 + 1,436 + 1,681).
Exhibit C
SKITHEEAST continued their snowmaking countdown and saw 26 retweets alone on July 17th when they said:
76. Days until snowmaking.

Seriously, look at the response to these tweets. As I guy that watches way too many individual tweet stats from resorts, these numbers are pretty impressive.
The Point
There’s a point every Winter when it becomes okay to say, “man, I can’t wait for Summer.” Likewise, there’s a similar point every Summer where it’s okay to say, “man it’s hot, I can’t wait for Winter.
I believe we’ve hit that point.
Resort’s have been sneaking in Winter-related tidbits since the lifts stopped spinning, but I think the response to these recent posts have indicated that it might be okay to start publicly hoping for colder temps again.
