St Valentine Visits Saddleback for Some Speed Dating
If you want to find true love, it’s too late. Unless of course you were skiing off the Rangeley chair at Saddleback, Maine yesterday. Christmas has Santa ski days, New Year’s brings torchlight parades, and now Valentine’s isn’t left out of the mix thanks to some clever marketing folks in New England. Here’s how it worked:
On Valentine’s day yesterday, rather than the usual lift-line setup, there were two singles lines. One for guys one for gals. Since Rangeley is a double chair, this meant that many of the chairs were filled with these randomly matched couples, giving each one some quality alone time. Eight minutes to be exact.
Lift tickets were also discounted down to $25 for the day to encourage a few extra bachelors and bachelorettes to get involved.
I don’t expect this to become a tradition at every resort but it fits the style of marketing that I like:
- Fun for those involved
- Simple, no need to complicate things
- New and unique, a little innovation
Love it. Any other Valentine’s marketing highlights I missed?
