“The image above says ‘2011’ like I’ve done this for years, but in reality, this is the first edition of such prestigious awards. Unlike other awards, you didn’t have to apply for these, just a judging panel of one (me) made of list of the best and eliminated them one by one until a winner was selected.”

This year could easily go down as the year of video for resort marketing. During the first year of SlopeFillers, I saw a few good ones, but 2011 was a non-stop firehose of sweet footy. Once again, the decision was tough, but I my decision has been make.

After a plethora of internal debate, the winner is (click play first):

BEST SKI RESORT VIDEO: Whistler/Blackcomb – XXS (Switchback Entertainment)

Simple tilt shift combined with stunning (and ordinary) angles of Whistler/Blackcomb made this video a huge hit across the web. Directed by Mike Douglass and edited by Jeff Thomas, this short video broke through the clutter of ski porn and provided a beautiful perspective on an amazing mountain.

HONORABLE MENTION: Telluride / Ben Knight

Great scenery, constant falling snow, interesting characters (without dialogue), and perfect music made this adaptation of a 2009 movie instantly catch my eye when it was released in 2011. This was shot as a joint project by the Telluride Visitors Center, Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association, Telluride Ski Resort and Telluride Mountainfilm.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
