For a long time I’ve been seriously tempted by the idea of New England road trip. Not one in the winter ski, mind you, but one in the fall to play golf.
How long have a dreamt of this idea? At least five years…
As much as a NE ski roadtrip calls to me, a summer golf sampling of @SugarloafMaine @sundayriver @KillingtonMtn etc would be entirely legit.

But in the back of my head I’ve always been curious whether I’m the only one. Because, yeah, playing Pebble Beach or Pinehurst or Bandon Dunes would be amazing, but in my book they have nothing on a beautifully designed and maintained mountain course.
Some Proof
Then, the other day, I saw someone who showed me I’m not crazy.
Someone who has a ton of respect in the golf world. A photographer who has captured virtually every major course on every continent. Evan Schiller.
Listen, ski is likely always going to be most resorts’ number one activity.
But I can’t help but think that ski-centric mindset – even if we’ve long since replaced “ski” with “mountain” in our names – is preventing us to see just how much potential the golf side of mountain resorts holds.
As often as I see Bandon Dunes showing up in golf magazines’ “top resorts” list, I honestly believe we should be seeing the likes of Sugarloaf and many, many others.
About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010
with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider
Inntopia,
my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley,
and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
