Magic Mountain proves terrain openings don’t have to be boring.

Resorts open new terrain all the time. You know the drill:

  • Excited sentence
  • Some exclamation points!!
  • Mention in today’s email
  • Toss out a few social posts
  • Rinse and repeat

Magic Mountain tossed out that playbook and injected some delightful creativity directly into the veins of this common resort marketing moment.

Playing on the fact that they’re opening the west side of the mountain, they took the slightest little seed of a theme and let that grow and bloom into something that is incredibly clever, engaging, and fun.

And that production quality? Let’s not overlook that. The edit is tight, fluid, and packs a ton of fun layers within that theme into a really clean package. I mean, using the drill as a gun? Safety ropes as a lasso? Shooting the closed sign down? Kicking it to make sure it’s dead? So clever. This really is some of my favorite content of the season.

Nice work, Magic.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
