To satisfy my own curiosity, I thought it might be cool to see how common some of the words are that we often see in ski resort names. Please note, this is for United States ski resorts only. With many Canadian resorts including French in their names, I figured this would be the more accurate way to go. I also have excluded words like “resort” or “area” that are included in names.

When taken with other elements of a ski resort’s brand – logo, colors, location, themes, visuals, etc. – ski resort names can feel unique, but resort names when quantified are remarkably similar.

Also, I could easily be missing some. The script I wrote to gather these stats needed a word to be fed into it. If you think of one that is missing, let me know and I’ll run it through the script and add it to the site. Based on these numbers, Sno Mountain, PA has the most generic name for a ski resort in the US.
