Inspiration
Keystone gets it soooo right with Kidtopia.

Let me tie together a couple things that may be harder to grasp if you don’t have little ones.

The first is that the sole reason we have traveled to various resorts isn’t because of ziplines or fancy hotels or delicious food; it’s because of the playgrounds.

“When you visit Vail with a young family there is one place you will inevitably find yourself stopping at. No it’s not the fancy ropes course. And it’s not the multi-million dollar gondola.

It’s this: Pirate Ship Playground.”

The other is that during a normal winter, playgrounds aren’t exactly accessible. Buried under many feet of snow, these magical magnets of mini-humans are unable to call upon their powers.

Which is exactly why Keystone’s Kidtopia is so brilliant.

And it’s brilliant because it’s a really cool park that’d made out of snow rather than buried under it.

Not New, But Still Awesome
Kidtopia has been around for a long time and it just keeps getting better and better each year.

I haven’t had the chance to visit it with kiddos quite yet, but I think it’s safe to say that knowing kids’ love of snow combined with their love of parks would make something like this not just a cool perk, but a reason families come back to Keystone year after year.

And when you think about the cost of making something like this and how parents will bend over backwards to give their kids amazing things (including experiences)? Well, this is a pretty strong effort from our friends in Summit County.

Nice work, Keystone.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
