Inspiration
Jay Peak’s new Relocation Vacation product is extremely intriguing.

Rarely do my eyes light up when I see a piece of marketing, but they most certainly did with this one.

Let me explain where this one was coming from.

An Old Plan
When Inntopia first acquired Ryan Solutions back in the day, Kim and I talked a few times – even made a budget and timeline at one point – about spending a summer in Vermont.

One side was the chance to work alongside the team for an extended period of time, but the other was the chance to have a home base and explore a region of the country we had only wandered in short spurts of a few days.

An Old Idea
But then there was just this idea that had been floating through the ether: was there any way that the increasing ability for folks to work from home could open the door to fill midweek slopes or, perhaps, even rooms?

Well, leave it to Jay to give it a go.

Relocation Vacation
Jay is calling it a Relocation Vacation. There are two packages and each include the following perks:

  • Lodging in a 1- or 2-bedroom Golf & Mountain Cottage
  • One season pass for the Jay Peak Championship Golf Course
  • A family pass for the in-ground, heated pool on Tramside (open weekends)
  • For those working remotely (or those who just love streaming): high speed public WiFi with the option of hardwired access with a guest provided router for additional security.

The first package is for a 1 bedroom condo ($1799 for the first month, $1650 after), the second for a 2 bedroom condo ($2125 for the first month, $1950/mo after).

Right now, Vermont requires that out of state guests quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in the state. Even if that doesn’t change, I think this is a fascinating idea.

Different Market, Different Products
One of the threads that shows up in virtually every conversation the last few weeks is this: the market has changed and so must our products.

This is a perfect example of that need to adapt.

First attempts rarely are the exact combination that will work, so who knows if/how this idea will adapt. But huge props to Jay for giving it a go. It’s a tempting offer (even with a 14-day quarantine) and I’m extremely excited to see how it goes.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
