Jay Peak’s Summer TV Spot Highlights Real Moments of Summer

Gregg Blanchard   /

A week or so back, I highlighted how resorts were using video to promote their summer activities. Each of the videos was produced with impressive quality and featured some awesome camera and shooting styles. Dollies, booms, burns, you name it, they had it and the end product for all three resorts was impressive. I thought that was the best I’d see this year.

That was before Jay Peak released this summer TV spot:

See that? It’s not fancy camera work, it’s not tilt-shift and cable cams…it’s real.

I don’t know if it was scripted or if it was a compilation of guest-submitted footy but I don’t really care because it feels real. It’s a guy wiping out on the wave machine, it’s a little girl squealing as she rides a water slide, it’s a friend distracted by the tram, it’s a cape-wearing kid shrieking with delight, it’s holing bunker shots and holding a toddler on the deck.

It’s my new favorite marketing video of the year.
