Introducing Ski Resort Social Media Dashboards (v1.0)

One of the most popular resources on SlopeFillers has always been the Top 25 lists for Facebook, Twitter, and, most recently, YouTube. Breaking into the Top 25 became an unofficial competition but from the beginning it gave a very narrow view for resorts. Last month, to expand that horizon, I built a database of every North American ski area, tracking down the Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube accounts for each along the way. Now, any resort (not just the big guys) could see their exact rank on a national, state and regional level to see how they stack up against neighboring resorts in similar markets.

The response has been great, but the second I introduced these options there was a problem. For a resort to check their rankings, they’d have to check 9 lists. Hardly convenient in my book. Here’s the solution.

Ski Resort Social Media Dashboards
Each dashboard will show rankings for a resort across all three social media site (Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube) as well as all three levels (North America, Region, and State). Each ranking is clickable and takes you to the actual list so you can see who is above and below that resort.

Here’s the link to check it out:

Here’s a quick example (Snowbasin, UT):

Right now, I’m looking for feedback and ideas. As more monthly data is collected, I’ll be able to add growth data and ranking for that as well, but for now, I just want to get your brain waves on what I can do to make this tool a little bit smoother and more useful. Charts? Daily updates? Something else? Let me know.

P.S. – As a recently self-taught PHP jedi, everything I build it pretty much perfect. However, in the extremely rare and ridiculously unlikely event that you find a bug or mistake, I’d appreciate it if you’d kindly (or unkindly, doesn’t really matter I suppose) let me know.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
