Jan 10 Lift Tickets for an Entire State Drop While Stoke, and Buzz, Skyrocket

Gregg Blanchard   /

If you drop your lift ticket prices to $10 next week, you’ll likely get some coverage in the [Local News Source] Times.

However, when an entire state does so on the same day, you get that plus some coverage in the New York Times.

It’s like the classic example of heavy lifting. Lifting a couch by yourself is a hopeless cause. Get a friend and suddenly the task is a breeze.

I ♥ NY
On January 10, 2013, skiers can shred any one of 20 resorts in New York for $10. Because it’s also learn to ski and snowboard month, some will also be offer lessons for $25.

I really like the coordinated offer idea. Doubling the value of the offer often seems to quadruple the interest media and skiers alike take in the news.

We saw this especially with the Mountain Collective. That group of resorts could get together for a game of bocce and make headlines, so it’s little wonder why the coverage of their joint pass received so much positive press.

Favorite Part?
I love that they are requiring skiers to register for their tickets in advance. Not only does this give the ski areas a better idea of skier visits that day, but it’s quickly building a powerful email database of skiers who could potentially ski or ride in New York at any given time.

Good stuff.
