Quiz: “How’s Your Doublecork Afterbang?”

Gregg Blanchard   /

What once was called “hot-dogging” is now a vital part of the product that a ski resort offers. Rails, boxes, walls, jumps, and pipes are not just ways to have more fun on the hill, they are methods of attracting an entire culture and group, ready to spend, to your mountain. With that said, I worry that some of the resort marketers out there aren’t “hip to the groove”, as no one says, with this generation of trick-loving jibbers. For that reason I have creating the “How’s Your Doublecork Afterbang” quiz to see how in-tune you are with this crowd and their needs.

Q1: What is the difference between a boardslide and a frontside boardslide?

Q2: What is the difference between a flipped trick and a corked trick?

Q3: What does the word “afterbang” mean?

Q4: Who is often referred to as the “King of Afterbang”?

Q5: A snowboarder can spin two directions. What are the two names for them?

Q6: What trick did I just do if my buddy says, “Nice 50-50.”?

Q7: Define “gaper”.

Q8: If I talk about there being lots of “groms” on the hill today, what am I referring to?

Q9: Name a grab that both a skier and snowboarder can do.

Q10: If I want to become the next “Superunknown”, where should I go for info?

BONUS: Name two Superunknowns.

Good luck!

P.S. – Yes, this was originally posted yesterday but, realizing it was a Holiday, many people would not be around to see it, so rather than post the answers this morning I’ll leave this up for a while and post them this afternoon.
