Inspiration
Big milestones deserve more than a tweet, so Deer Valley made cookies.

Just a quick one to wrap up my week.

Certain Utah resorts and Ski Utah’s marketing efforts have long touted a big, fat, juicy number when talking about snowfall – 500″. It’s an average that the state uses to set itself apart from many of their neighbors. It’s become a bit of a thing, this number, and one that you see often in marketing messages and campaigns.

But it typically only applies to some resorts. Specifically, those in the Cottonwood Canyons – Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude – and Brian Head down south.

This year, however, has been special. So special, that other resorts have hit this number including Deer Valley.

Now, Deer Valley could have told this story with a video they tweeted out, but they decided to go a step further and print up some stickers to celebrate the occasion, place them on individually bagged cookies, and hand them out to skiers enjoying the snow.

And then they shared a video.

I love it when resorts go a little bit further to celebrate milestones like this. Hitting 500″ is worth more than an Instagram post, and that’s exactly what Deer Valley did.

Nice work.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
