If you are keen on resort marketing and keen on Twitter, you’ll want to be sure your schedule is open Thursdays at 5:00pm ET for the weekly chat session (#mrktchat) between ski resort marketers from here, there, and everywhere. Many of you are likely in the loop on this one, but in case you aren’t or haven’t taken the chance to participate yet, take it from someone who skipped this chat for way too long, this is well worth the time.

Topics are usually fairly open so it is also a great forum for putting questions before a peer group for feedback and ideas.

How to Participate

  1. Look for a tweet like this one, “Calling all ski, travel, tourism, hospitality, recreation, marketing, social media and tech folks for weekly #mrktchat 3pm MST.” as a reminder each Thursday. Milena Regos over at Diamond Peak (@milenaregos) is the mastermind and is a good one to follow if you want to join in.
  2. A topic will usually be announced that morning so keep an eye out for that. If you miss the topic, don’t let that keep you from participating.
  3. It all goes down on Twitter by ending each post with the hashtag #mrktchat. So snag your favorite Twitter program or use an online app like TweetChat.
  4. Chat your Thursday afternoon away. Lots of interesting topics come up and some great resources and insights are shared by all. Last week we talked about the definition of “engagement” and some of the issues and obstacles around measuring it.

There is also a #mrktchat Facebook group for those anti-Twitter-ites out there:

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
