Yes, I know Twitter stats are messed up. But I'm too busy nuzzling my firstborn to fix it so you'll just have to wait. :)

New Feature: Add Any Profile (not just resorts) to Your Social7 Report

(For those of you just joining the game, Social7 is a free, weekly email that helps people keep up with social media even if they aren’t on the front lines. It includes a weekly recap of major news, articles to read for more info on trends, and performance stats for you and up to four competitors. You can schedule a free email here.)

I hinted at this one recently and am happy to have it up and running. Instead of just including ski resort social performance stats in your weekly email, you can now add custom profiles for any business, agency, group, person, or whatever you choose. That includes:

Many of you have been asking for this and I’m psyched to have it up. Here’s how it works (text instructions are below the video):

Step 1: Log In to Your Account
Once you are on your account dashboard, you’ll notice that everything looks exactly the same as before. Now, however, while you click the resort drop-down menu, there will be an option at the very top called “Custom (Non-Resort)”. Click that and two boxes will appear below it.

Step 2: Copy & Paste Profile URLs
Now, just paste the Twitter and Facebook page URLs for the business/person you’d like to track into those two boxes. Twitter URLs usually look something like “https://twitter.com/WoodwardTahoe” while Facebook’s are similar: “http://www.facebook.com/woodwardtahoe”.

Step 3: Click Update
Click update to save this profile. If you preview your email you won’t see any data for the profiles you just added. That’s okay. They are in the queue. The next time the process runs it will grab data for those profiles. Your first email you receive after making the change will likely just show total numbers but the second week should show totals and growth stats.

BONUS: Not a Resort at All?
I realize that many of you, though involved in resort marketing, don’t need to track resorts at all and thus haven’t been using Social7. For you, I’ve created a separate account type that only shows the custom boxes (not the long, pull-down) so you don’t have to select “Custom (Non-Resort)” every time. Click here to create a new account that way.
