Facebook Top 25 Update – Aug 2011

August 9th, 2011

Oh what do you do in the summertime? If you’re Killington or Vail, you get fans. And lots of them. Both of these fine skiing establishments snagged a whopping 22%+ increase in their Facebook fan count over the last month. I documented Killington’s strategies (that clearly are paying off) but haven’t had a chance to research the catalyst for Vail’s huge growth. With those resorts taking the lead, average growth was up as we head into the “last of the summer months.” Here’s all the details for the August update to the Top 25 Ski Resorts on Facebook list.

New & Notable

  • For all the growth Killington and Vail snagged, there was equal stagnation. Six resorts posted growth rates of less than 1%.
  • Killington not only increased their fan count by 22.85%, they also jumped 8 spots in the rankings, the biggest jump this list has ever seen.
  • Mammoth became the first resort to hit 75,000 fans. Who will be the first to 100,000?
  • Overall, 33,581 fans were captured by the top 25 resorts
  • Combined, the top 25 resorts have 787,387 fans
  • The average growth for a top 25 resort was 3.68%
