EpicMix has been responsible for a butt-load of social sharing and the inching of pass holders towards a greater likelihood of renewing. Apps exist that allow run tracking, but lack some of the marketing benefits for resorts. Now, Perisher, Australia the closest thing to EpicMix I’ve ever seenfor their winter season.

My Ride Dashboard
How close are the two? Pretty dang. Here’s the overview of MyRide:

And here’s EpicMix:

One Big Difference
One difference that jumps out right away is the design. EpicMix, far and away, has a cleaner, sharper user interface and website layout. For example, Perisher shared this analysis of their most popular lifts from scan data. Can you tell which pie piece is the “Happy Valley” t-bar?

Compare that EpicMix’s dashboard and charts:

As Effective?
Without a pass, i can’t get into the inner workings, but if the design is any indication of the UI, I’m having trouble seeing EpicMix being challenged for any awards by MyRide. Not to mention that EpicMix is a few steps ahead with things like photos. So, with a poorer UI I’d suspect there will be less use than EpicMix which means less sharing, less bragging, and less marketing punch.

It’s a big step to see a resort copy the idea so closely. Makes me wonder if this is simply the first of many such clones. Wouldn’t surprise me too much if it is.

About Gregg & SlopeFillers
I've had more first-time visitors lately, so adding a quick "about" section. I started SlopeFillers in 2010 with the simple goal of sharing great resort marketing strategies. Today I run marketing for resort ecommerce and CRM provider Inntopia, my home mountain is the lovely Nordic Valley, and my favorite marketing campaign remains the Ski Utah TV show that sold me on skiing as a kid in the 90s.
